SteamRocket brings STEAM Experiences to Love Local Sunday

On the last Love Local Sunday event of the season, SteamRocket, brought together science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) enthusiasts for a fun-filled day of interactive activities. The event took place on April 30th at Southwest Church in Indian Wells. It featured a variety of challenges, including Ping-Pong Pick-Up and Build-a-Boat, as well as hands-on workshops showcasing Minecraft coding and MakeCode micro:bit.
Despite the high heat, hundreds of people participated in the event's exciting lineup of vendors. The ping-pong tournament drew a crowd of competitive players while families enjoyed building and loading their boats with pennies. The workshops were also a huge hit, with attendees of all ages checking out Minecraft coding and discovering the power of micro:bit.
"We're thrilled with the turnout and the energy at today's event," said co-founder Elle Decker. "It's clear that people in our community are eager to learn and engage with STEAM concepts in fun and creative ways. We're grateful to all the participants who helped make this event a success."
The event was sponsored by Love Local CV, who provided support and resources to help bring the event to life. In addition to SteamRocket's activities, attendees also had the opportunity to visit vendor booths featuring local businesses and organizations.
"We're proud to support initiatives like Love Local Sunday that encourage supporting local businesses and organizations in our community," said Justin Decker. "It's inspiring to see so many people come together to explore STEAM concepts and engage in hands-on activities."
This was the season's last Love Local Sunday event, but Steamrocket plans to bring it back in the fall with even more exciting activities and workshops.
